Police visit....
We have had a fabulous week learning all about the work of our police officers. The week started with an assembly by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, Darryl Preston. As part of his day in Waterbeach, he took time out to come and talk to the children about police work - we are all grateful to him for this. Coincidently, we also had a visit from the Transport police, on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th January, who have talked to every class in key stage 1 and 2. The children have learnt about the work of the transport police, safety equipment that they use and they have even had a chance to try on handcuffs, helmets and shields. They were shown the police van lights and siren. This was a fabulous experience for all of the children, with information that could even save their lives one day. I would like to thank Officer Julian Gardiner for organising this. Julian was joined by Mark Thurston, a former Police Officer, who volunteered to come along to talk to the children with his colleague. Thank you both.
